So, I was on the subway the other day, and I saw an advertisement for a class called “Islam 101″, which was going to be held at the main mosque in town. I thought that is great because the more information the general public has the less fear and bias and discrimination there will be on this important topic.
There are even two sessions…even better…
Except…one session is for men and one session is for women…
Then disappointment set in and part of me thought that a religion that is so blatantly sexist will never be fully understood or accepted in the western culture…at least in New England…
